Inspiration

Hello, my name is Juana Acosta.  Through my life I have known different kinds of people who inspired me to be a better person.  One of them was my neighbor Mary.

First of all, Mary was so busy bringing up her three kids, working hard, and studying.  Somehow she still made time for her children and herself.  One way Mary inspired me was that she had to face life by herself as a widow and be strong for her children and give them an education.  She was a wonderful mom.

Mary worked everyday at her fulltime job, plus she worked sewing clothes for her neighbors.  Mary loved to sew and she studied professional sewing three days a week, and without a car she had to walk to get to her school.  She always had full days.

Finally, she spent her only free day playing with or taking out her children.  She was full of energy for them.  She made me think about people who had all the opportunities as they grew up, but for some reason let opportunities pass them by throughout their lives.

Mary encouraged me to be a better mom and a better human, and also inspired me to get an education even if I have to start over.  It is never too late to start making my dreams come true.  That is why I attend the Cochise College ELA program in Sierra Vista and hope to go on to college after I get my GED.
