There are several reasons why I attend Victory. Since I wasn’t having much success in high school, I dropped out with a plan to stay productive. During the short time I have attended victory I have made several new goals and I've been able to balance work and school in the same day.
I was not
having much success in high school , because I was not learning anything new. I was skipping classes to avoid
teachers that wanted me out of the school. For example, I was in welding class
and the teacher was giving a speech and didn’t think I was listening because my
eyes were red. He thought I was high so he sent me to the office. Those
following weeks he thought I carried a gun around the school and sent me to the
office multiple times. He would call my family and tell them of his suspicions
and then would get mad because they knew his accusations were not true. So one
day when the teachers were in a meeting I threw an m80 explosive in the pond
they were standing by. Three police officers escorted me to the office. They
called a K-9 unit to search the school. After that, most of the teachers hated
me.
I dropped
out of high school with a plan to stay productive. My plan was to be home
taught, so I would still get a diploma. I knew that if I didn’t get a diploma I
wouldn’t be able to get a good job. Just a few weeks before I registered for
home schooling, I was reminded that all the girls in my family talk to much. My
neighbor talked to me and suggested that I get my GED. She talked about her
friend, the director of a great program called Victory. I told my parents and
they preferred that over home teaching. I waited a few months until I was
sixteen, and then I enrolled.
Since I
started attending Victory, I have made several new goals. One of those goals is
to learn as much basic education as I
can. Another one is to finish getting my GED as soon as possible. One of the
biggest goals I have is to take some college classes so that I can get a good
job. Some of the college classes I would like to take are “CAD” and computer
programming for “Centrod.” With just a few of those type of classes, I would be
able to get a good job and some day open a small business of my own.
I think that
adult education is very important because I believe it gives a second chance to
everyone who wants a diploma and everyone who wants to expand their knowledge
of basic education. Victory has worked better for me because since I have
attended I have learned more in several months than in a whole year of high
school.
