Recuerdos De Mi Infancia

Cuando yo era chica recuerdo que cada verano nos llevaban de vacaciones a Cuernavaca,, Morelos. El pueblo se llamaba Mazatepec, y siempre ibamos a nadar en un rio llamado Puente de San Pedro. Era muy divertido, ibamos con todos mis primos y tios y habia muchos arboles de mangos. Eran huertas, y cortabamos bastantes mangos, y tambien habia pepinos y sandias, pues divertiamos mucho.

Ahora recuerdo mucho a mi prima Miriam, pues ella era muy buena y muy divertida. Cuanto siento que haya muerto tan joven, siempre la recordare.

Tambien este pueblo tiene una gran historia del Senor de Mazatepec. Se cuenta que una vez se aparecio una cruz con Jesus Cristo frente a la iglesia como unos 300 metros, y dicen que lo bajaban a la iglesia y lo ponian en el altar. El se volvia a subir al dia siguiente, y asi lo hicieron por tres veces hasta que todo el pueblo decidio hacerle una iglesia arriba. Ahora estan frente a frente los dos iglesias, abajo le llaman “La Capilla”, y arriba “El Calvario.” Ahora asi le llaman por lo que ellos vivieron, El Senor Del Calvario. Cada ano lo festejan y va muchisima gente de otros pueblos y se celebra el 18 de octubre,en 1935. Fue cuando se aparecio.

Memories From My Childhood

When I was a girl I remember that every summer we would go on vacation to Cuernavaca, Morelos. The town was called Mazatepec, and we always went swimming in a river called Bridge of San Pedro. It was a lot of fun, we went with all my cousins, aunts and uncles. There were many mango trees there. They were in orchards,

and we’d cut quite a few mangos, and also there were cucumbers and watermelon. Well, we had a good time.

Now I remember very much my cousin Miriam, she was a very good and fun person. How sad I feel that she died so young, I’ll always remember her.

This town also has a great story about Our Lord of Mazatepec. It’s told that once there appeared a cross with Jesus on it, about 300 meters in front of the church, on a little hill. They say that people took the cross down to the church and put it on the altar. But Christ returned to the hill the next day with the cross,, and the people continued to take the cross down and put it in the church. The next day it would be on the hill again. This continued for 3 days, until the people decided to build a church up on the hill. Now the two churches are across from each other, the one below is called “The Chapel”, and the one above, “The Calvary”. Now they call him, The Lordof Calvary. Every year they celebrate him and many people from other places come. The celebration is the 18^th of October, it was when he first appeared. Alicia Lara
