Mis Recuerdos

Yo recuerdo que cuando era nina me gustaba ayudar a mi mama a preparar empanadas. Tambien mi papa tocaba la guitarra, a mi hermana y a mi nos gustaba cantar con mi papa. Recuerdo que cuando era el Dia de San Ignacio de Loyola hacian quermes en la iglesia, tambien matachines, juegos, y otras cosas mas.

A mi me gustaba visitar a mis tios que vivian en el rancho donde la gente hacen tardeadas y pasabamos un rato a gusto. Tambien nos gustaba pasear a caballo y cuando ibamos con mis abuelitos nos gustaba andar en la huerta donde mi abuelo tenia su sembradillo de fresas, chile, tomate, y otras frutas. En Semana Santa mi abuela preparaba gorditas de harina y capirotada que a mi me encantaban. Barbara Villarreal

My Memories

I remember when I was a girl I liked to help my Mom prepare empanadas. My Dad played the guitar, and my sister and I liked to sing with my Dad. I remember that when it was the Day of St. Ignatius of Loyola, they had special ceremonies at the church. Also there were matachines, games, and many other things.

I liked to visit my aunt and uncle that lived in a ranch where they had tardeada parties, and we would have a nice time at the tardeadas. We also would go horseback riding, and when we went with my grandparents we’d go to the garden where my grandfather had the nursery of strawberries, chiles, tomatoes, and other fruits. During Holy Week my grandmother prepared flour gorditas and capirotada, dishes that I just loved.
