A letter from a family lit child

1/31/03

Thursday January 30th 2003

 Dear Representative:

My name is Analuisa Barbeitia; my parents attend the adult education program classes in Queen Creek, Arizona.

This program is absolutely wonderful because it is helping them communicate much better in everyday conversations. My dad hardly ever asks me for help while writing checks because he can do it all by himself. My mom doesn't need me to translate at stores because she applies everything she learned in everything she does. That makes me incredibly proud of them. I am sure I am not the only daughter that feels that way about her student parents.

This program is helping my parent to be better people as well as better residents of the United States. The people attending these programs all over the country are helping to shape a country with their talents and are giving a better name to Latin people everywhere. They are showing that a lot can be accomplished with a great thirst for knowledge on their part and some help from you.

So I ask you to sit and reflect on the decision you are about to make. It doesn't just affect your paychecks, but it affects thousands of people around the nation.

Thank you for reading my letter.

 Sincerely,

 Analuisa Barbeitia
