Mi Ciudad Y Sus Maravillas
Yo naci en
Mi casa estaba en la falda
Era un paisaje tan bonito. En medio
Tuve
Ahora puedo reconocer
todas aquellas maravillasque El nos brindo.

My City and Its Wonders
I was born in Ensenada, a
port of Baja California, Mexico. Ensenada is situated between the Pacific Ocean
and the mountains.
My
house was on the side of the mountain looking toward the ocean, so from our
home we were able to see the whole city, and farther out the blue ocean. It was
a beautiful view. In the middle of the ocean was the Island of Saint Thomas. It
looks like a sleeping dragon in the middle of the blue. It seems that our house
was built in that exact place to have an awesome view. We were able to see the
sunset; it was like a movie, those red sunsets reflecting on the blue of the
ocean. They made you relax, you could feel the soft breeze and the fresh wind
in your face, and that smell of the ocean… If you closed your eyes you’d feel
like you were in the middle of the ocean, wishing to enjoy it forever.
Once
the sun set, all the lights of the houses and the streets were lit. You could
see lights from the mountains down to the water, the whole city illuminated as
if they were Christmas lights. At the end of the city you could distinguish the
pier and its boats, all illuminated with lights to let us know they were there,
to give us another beautiful view.
On
the hill where we lived there were no streets, we walked on trails. From the
trails we could see the desert full of flowers, of every color. My favorite
ones were the “campanitas”. They grow close to the earth and they look like a
yellow carpet that moves with the rhythm of the wind. Near these yellow flowers
grew other kinds of many different colors. Together they all made a beautiful
rainbow moving gently, kissing the breeze with the wind. This was our personal
view and we enjoyed it.
The
village started to grow, and our mountain became part of a very big city. Those
times we enjoyed were marvelous. Thanks to God for giving us such fabulous
nature and scenery to enjoy. We will always have so many happy memories of that
beautiful place, Ensenada. Now I can recognize and appreciate all that He
bestowed upon us.
