.Arizona Standard(s) and Indicator(s) ABE and ASE: Science- Indicator D-The learner understands the characteristics of living things and the interrelationships of living organisms with one another and their environments .

Sub indicator 2 Understands the interdependence and interaction of living things with their environments.  

Lesson Overview
This video describes the basic biomes of the world, and how plants and animals thrive, survive, or perish.  The teacher should preview the video and the teacher’s guide. Follow up activities and discussions will vary according to the student’s level.  

Lesson Activities:

Hand out the pre-test. Review the questions and answers. Pass out the vocabulary list and read the list with the class.

Show the Video. (20 minutes) Students may take notes. Pause at the video quiz.

Hand out the video quiz and review.  

There are very good discussion questions. These might be discussed in the next class period, depending on time.

Do the connected/not connected activity sheet as a group.

Hand out the post test. ABE students should complete the first section; ASE students should complete the essay questions. Grade the tests and discuss the answers, either individually or as a group.

For homework: vocabulary activities and crossword puzzle.

Student Activity – Choose follow up activity in the teacher’s guide as appropriate.
