What was the objective for this lesson/activity?

To help students identifie similarities and differences in mythologies from different cultures (e.g., ideas of afterlife, roles of deities), and to interact with and communicate with eachother

Why did you choose to do this lesson/activity?

It seemed like an enjoyable and engaging activity

What was the principle learning environment for this activity?             Which students participated in this activity?

 self-contained classroom                                                        ABE

multi-activity area (independent study & instruction)                  ASE

 computer-assisted instruction                                                 ELAA

Given the environment, level(s), staff, and number of students participating in this lesson, what materials and strategies did you plan to use?

I planned to have students look up stories on line and use three areas to meet and discuss the stories. There were 9 students and two staff at time

What strategies did you use?

Followed the lesson

What factors do you feel contributed to the success of this activity? In other words, what worked?

The students were interested in the theme

What, if any, problems did you encounter?

The printing of the stories was problematic- students did not want to read on line, and when we printed them, the whole site with 15 stories started printing. For the next class, I used pre-printed copies.

What revisions or modifications would you make?

I would give more time- it took students much longer to read than i thought- also, I might eliminate some of the longer stories.

In general, how would you rate this lesson?

 It’s a keeper for me!

This should be in everyone’s repertoire.

I’d do it again only if/when

 I’ll never do it again!
