.Lesson Overview
This is an introduction to ABE students on a description of the Scientific Method as well as a presentation of actual students developing and testing hypotheses.  First, I discuss the Scientific Method and how is applies both in the scientific world but also in everyday life.  I also discuss how it comes into play doing math word problems.

Next, I distribute the Vocabulary list and have students do the pre-test from Teacher’s guide and/or Black line Masters on the Discovery site.

Then I show the Video and stop video, at different times, to discuss the sample experiments that students are demonstrating.

Finally, we finish up with the post test and discuss answers. Then I distribute the fill in the blanks flow chart so that the students can demonstrate what they have learned.  (Black line Masters).

Student Activity – Have students decide on a specific hypothesis that they would like to test out.  We also have some science experiments, on hand, at ACYR for our classes.
