Arizona Adult Education EL/Civics
Mission Statement and Objectives
(developed 9/7/02)

To educate and involve ourselves and our students in the civic life of our community through:
• gathering and sharing information,
• establishing relationships with community organizations and institutions, and
• participating in activities (in and out of the classroom)

in order to improve
• the economic status,
• the cultural integration, and
• the sense of empowerment for our students and their families.

In 2 years, the field of adult education in Arizona will have
• a curriculum infused with civics education, and
• a field of educators with a deeper understanding of Civics education.

This process will be measured through
• Improvement in students’ performance on core and secondary indicators of success, and
• Increased retention of students.
