AALL Student Lesson Counting Change

Introduction
This activity will introduce the four most common coins in regular usage in the United States and also the uncommon half dollar. You will learn to identify each coin and the related value of each coin. You will then demonstrate different ways to combine coins to reach a certain value and to be able to count change from $1.00.
Activity
1.
Study Coin
Sheet . Then print and do the Matching
Sheet by drawing lines from the word to the coin and the amount to the
coin. Practice writing the name and values on the sheet.
2. When making change, start at the amount which is needed to pay and count up to the amount you give. For example, if an item costs $0.60, and you give a dollar, you start counting at $0.60.... to 70 (one dime or plus 10)... to 75 (one nickel or plus 5) to $1.00 (one quarter or plus 25). Do the Counting Activity Sheet.
