I hope that all of you have been enjoying your summer and have been able to get away for a little while. Now that programs are starting up again or gearing up for the busier fall season, I wanted to let you know about some of the things AALL has planned for the upcoming year.
In early June, AALL’s Board had a day-long meeting to reflect on the past year and plan for the upcoming one. At the meeting, we also identified officers and committee chairs for the coming year. Our officers for the fiscal year July 1-June 30, 2012 will be:
President: Anne Petti
President-Elect: Megan Weldon
Secretary: Miryam Gutier-Elm
Treasurer: Katy Brown
As part of our conversation, we discussed the fact that we would like to see wider participation on AALL committees, and especially that we would like to expand our reach and have more involvement from different parts of the state. More people mean more ideas, more reach, and the ability to accomplish more without overburdening any one individual or organization. As the old adage goes, “Many hands make light work.”
So, I would like to invite you to consider joining one of AALL’s committees. It is a chance to focus on a specific area that is of interest to you, gain experience, and meet colleagues from different parts of the state. The committees that are looking for additional members are listed below. If you are interested in participating on a particular committee, or if you have any questions, please email us firstname.lastname@example.org, and indicate which committee you are interested in. Your email will be forwarded to the committee chair.
Committees that are loooking for additional members are:
- Professional Development
Also, because we did not hold a spring/summer conference, many memberships have lapsed. If yours is one of them, please consider renewing now. (Email us at email@example.com to check your membership status.) Visit our website at www.az-aall.org for information on how to renew. The upcoming fall conference would also be a great opportunity to renew your membership.
I wish all of you a great start to the new fiscal year. I welcome your ideas and input, and hope to see you at one or more AALL-sponsored events throughout the year.
